- Key components of Azure architecture: Regions, Resource Groups, and Resources
- Mission-critical architecture and disaster recovery targets (RTO and RPO)
Module 2: Essential Cloud Services
- Storage and data fundamentals: Azure Table Storage and Azure Cosmos DB
- Compute and container platforms: Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Azure Container Registry (ACR)
- Relational data management and messaging: Azure SQL Database and Azure Service Bus
- Practical exercises for each service: configuration, deployment, and evaluation based on availability, performance, security, and pricing
- Implementing Infrastructure as Code with Bicep to ensure reproducible environments
Day 2: Architectural Leadership and Clean Architecture
Module 3: The Role of the Architect
- Defining software architecture and various architectural perspectives
- Roles, responsibilities, and decision-making ownership for software architects
- Specifying and communicating architecture effectively to both technical and business stakeholders
- A practical roadmap for becoming an effective software architect
Module 4: Managing Dependencies in Monolithic Applications
- Clean Architecture principles: separation of concerns, direction of dependencies, and long-term maintainability
- Choosing the right cloud services for monolith modernization, weighing advantages and disadvantages
- Practical lab: Build and deploy a Clean Architecture-based solution on Azure using .NET
Day 3: Domain-Driven and Distributed Architectures
Module 5: DDD, CQRS, and Event Sourcing
- Foundations of Domain-Driven Design: domain boundaries, ubiquitous language, and model-driven design
- Understanding CQRS and Event Sourcing for managing complex, evolving business domains
- Architectural patterns commonly used in DDD-based cloud solutions
- Practical lab: Implement Event Sourcing as a requirements-driven design approach (mapping requirements to events, aggregates, and event flows)
Module 6: Microservices
- Microservices architectural principles and trade-offs in distributed systems
- Selecting cloud services for microservices-based solutions, considering pros and cons
- Synchronous vs. asynchronous communication in microservices, including reliability patterns like circuit breakers and resilience strategies
- Testability in microservices and CI/CD pipelines: contract testing, integration test boundaries, automated quality gates, and deployment confidence
- Practical lab: Build and deploy microservices on Azure using .NET
Requirements
- Proficiency in an advanced programming language (such as C# or Java)
- Basic understanding of the architectural styles covered in the course
- Foundational experience working with cloud services
- At least five years of professional software engineering experience
