Applying Professional Scrum (APS) is a 2-day course that teaches Scrum in a highly practical way. Students hit the ground running through instruction and team-based exercises.

Working in a series of Sprints, teams of students build a software application, thereby facing real-life problems. The mechanics, roles, principles and (empirical) process of Scrum are demonstrated. Common missteps and misunderstandings are discussed so students grow a higher awareness of their symptoms.

Applying Professional Scrum (APS) is the training for teams and anyone wanting to experience the Scrum way of working. The course also provides the foundation of knowledge needed for role-focused training for Product Owners, Scrum Masters and Developers, as offered in Scrum.org’s Professional Scrum Master, Professional Scrum Product Owner and Professional Scrum Development classes.

The class introduces the mechanics of Scrum, as well as provides insights into complexity, team-based collaboration and self-organization as essential elements in mastering Scrum. Students will experience how the Scrum framework improves product development efforts.

From its emphasis on practical application the course exposes common missteps, increases the awareness of the associated symptoms, and provides prescriptive guidance to avoid going off track.

Students are challenged to act in terms of Scrum. They take home an increased understanding of how to collaborate better and work as a team.

• Students will have a clear understanding of the mechanics of Scrum and their coherence.

• Students leave the class with a handful of tips to identify common pitfalls and dysfunctions.

Professional Scrum Certification

All participants completing the Applying Professional Scrum course will receive a password to attempt the Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) assessment. The industry-recognized PSM I certification requires a minimum passing score of 85%. APS class participants who attempt the PSM I assessment within 14 days of receiving their free password and do not score at least 85% will be granted a 2nd attempt at no additional cost.

You are also entitled to a discount on the PSM II assessment once passing PSM I.

Professional Agile Leadership Essentials is a 2 day workshop to equip leaders and managers of Agile teams along with their Product Owners and Scrum Masters to help their organizations change by providing participants with:

• An overview of what “Agile” is and why organizations need it to thrive in a changing world.
• The means to identify the potential opportunities, challenges and impacts of Agile in terms of business value and why this is so important to the next generation organization.
• An understanding of techniques to support teams to sustain long-term agility including the role that leaders play, shifts in thinking, and the relationship between complexity and empiricism.
• Ways to continue the development of the people to help them grow and prosper in an agile way of working. • Guidance of how to measure and guide agile product delivery.
• Discuss ways to scale agility across several teams within the organization while keeping them working together to deliver on a common vision.

Professional Agile Leadership Certification

All participants completing the Professional Agile Leadership - Essentials course will receive a password to attempt the Professional Agile Leadership I (PAL I) certification assessment. PAL-E class participants who attempt the PAL I assessment within 14 days of receiving their free password and do not score at least 85% will be granted a 2nd attempt at no additional cost.

In this course in Portugal, students will learn how Scrum Teams can add additional Kanban practices while continuing to work with Scrum, all without changing Scrum.

After completing this course, the participant will:

• Understand how the flow works in the context of Scrum.
• Learn about Kanban practices, learn what scrum teams can apply them to improve their effectiveness and efficiency.
• Learn how to effectively use appropriate Kanban practices without changing Scrum.
• Learn a practical approach to improving the transparency and visibility of their work.
