Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI — Integrated Business Solutions Training Course

This course provides a foundational understanding of Power Virtual Agents, Power Automate, and Power Apps, along with a high-level overview of Power BI. The curriculum is structured around a real-world scenario I previously managed manually for a past employer: constructing a Power App via Microsoft Power Apps to monitor tasks associated with new house constructions (utilizing SharePoint for data storage). We then leverage Power Virtual Agents to demonstrate how users can enable bots within Microsoft Teams to guide them to documents located across various SharePoint sites, such as loan agreements, budgets, and sales contracts. I believe these bots have significant potential for HR and IT teams, particularly in managing repetitive inquiries. Furthermore, I illustrate how to configure simple flows in Power Automate to save attachments from specific senders (in this example, inspection reports organized by the bank) and to set up additional flows that save data from Microsoft Forms back to SharePoint. We also explore building fully automated workflows using the approvals app within Microsoft Teams. Once the app, bot, and flow are established, the final phase involves creating a straightforward Power BI report. We use Power Automate to dispatch a snapshot of the table containing the most recent completed tasks every two weeks to a designated recipient (the bank, in this case). This report requests a drawdown, including the task completion dates and corresponding budget amounts—all data gathered within the app. Please note that this course is designed at a high level. I recommend learners use ChatGPT for more technical aspects, such as coding or formula creation in Power Apps. However, the course does cover how to effectively utilize ChatGPT to assist with Power Apps formulas.
