- Data protection principles and relevant terminology.
- The lawful basis for processing personal data.
- Governance and accountability of data protection within organisations.
- The interaction between Controllers and Processors, including the role of third parties.
- Transfers of personal data to third countries or international organisations.
- Rights of data subjects.
- The role of the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and Independent Supervisory Authorities (ISAs).
- Data breaches, enforcement actions, and liability.
- Processing of personal data concerning children.
- Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations (PECR) 2003.

The course will be taught by a BCS-approved expert NobleProg trainer.
The fee covers the full delivery of the course syllabus by an approved BCS trainer and the BCS Practitioner Data Protection exam. The exam can be taken remotely at your convenience and is centrally invigilated by BCS. By successfully passing the exam (a multiple-choice format requiring a minimum score of 65%), participants will earn the accredited BCS Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection.
Requirements
While not mandatory, holding the BCS Foundation Certificate in Data Protection is highly beneficial.
