This instructor-led, live training in Coimbra (online or onsite) is aimed at product owners who wish to gain knowledge of advanced techniques for successful product ownership in dynamic and challenging environments as a Professional Scrum Product Owner II (PSPO II).

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

• Understand advanced strategies for maximizing the value delivered by the product and prioritize effectively in complex situations.
• Apply refined backlog management techniques to ensure the team works on the most valuable items, and collaborate with stakeholders to refine and split user stories.

Applying Professional Scrum (APS) is an intensive 2-day programme designed to teach Scrum through highly practical methods. Participants dive straight into action, combining instruction with collaborative team-based exercises.

By working through a series of Sprints, student teams construct a software application, thereby confronting real-world challenges. This process demonstrates the mechanics, roles, principles, and empirical nature of Scrum. The course also addresses common missteps and misunderstandings, helping students develop a sharper awareness of the signs associated with them.

Applying Professional Scrum (APS) serves as ideal training for teams and individuals eager to experience the Scrum way of working. Furthermore, it establishes the foundational knowledge required for role-specific training for Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and Developers, as provided in Scrum.org’s Professional Scrum Master, Professional Scrum Product Owner, and Professional Scrum Developer classes.

The class introduces the mechanics of Scrum while offering insights into complexity, team collaboration, and self-organization as key elements in mastering Scrum. Students will experience firsthand how the Scrum framework enhances product development efforts.

Emphasizing practical application, the course exposes common pitfalls, raises awareness of their symptoms, and provides prescriptive guidance to help teams stay on track.

Students are challenged to adopt Scrum practices, leaving the course with a deeper understanding of how to collaborate more effectively and function as a cohesive team.

Professional Scrum Certification

All participants who complete the Applying Professional Scrum course will receive a password to attempt the Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) assessment. The industry-recognized PSM I certification requires a minimum passing score of 85%. APS class participants who sit for the PSM I assessment within 14 days of receiving their complimentary password and do not achieve at least 85% will be granted a second attempt at no extra cost.

Additionally, you are entitled to a discount on the PSM II assessment upon successfully passing PSM I.

The training is dedicated to people interested in implementing Agile approaches in the organization, people participating in projects, project managers implementing or planning to implement Agile approaches in projects.

During this two-day Scaled Professional Scrum (SPS) workshop, participants will engage in a simulated large-scale software development project utilizing the Nexus™ framework. Delivered through a comprehensive end-to-end case study, the session enables students to collaborate on organizing and simulating a scaled software development effort. Throughout the workshop, attendees will explore over 50 practices designed to help reduce complexity and dependencies at scale. The course provides a clear understanding of how to launch, structure, staff, and manage large Agile projects using Scrum. Participants will learn the necessary infrastructure, tools, and practices required to successfully scale Scrum, thereby maximizing the value of their software development initiatives. By adopting a hands-on approach, students remain fully engaged in the learning process, gaining firsthand insight into the challenges of large-scale development and the solutions needed to get projects back on track. Upon completion, they will possess techniques for detecting irregularities and addressing them appropriately.

This course is designed as an experiential workshop where students learn how to scale Scrum using the Nexus™ framework. Throughout the session, participants are introduced to the artifacts and events within the framework, the new Nexus Integration Team role, along with more than 50 associated practices.

Certification Assessments
